About
I’ve taught at McPherson College since 1983. I teach composition, American literature, fiction, creative writing, journalism, editing, Web design, and multimedia storytelling. I also advise the student newspaper, The Spectator.
I started using technology early in my teaching career. I taught the college’s first word processing courses in 1985 and taught composition in a networked computer laboratory in 1993. I began supplementing my classroom teaching with the World Wide Web in 1998.
My interest in and experience with technology led to my being appointed the faculty member with responsibility for teaching digital journalism skills. I enjoy the challenge of learning enough about the ever-changing world of online journalism to pass along to students. My hope is that they get enough exposure and practice with emerging technologies that they will be to use them as professionals in the field.
